From freedom to foundations the architectural journey of Louis A. Vernon

Louis A. Vernon
Louis A. Vernon, a skilled architect, designed one of Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church  structures. He began his educational journey at Mt. Canaan Elementary School, later studying at   O.W. Dillon School in Kentwood, Louisiana,  and Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. However, his academic pursuits were temporarily halted when he was called to serve his country in the military. Upon completing his service, he resumed his education and graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Following his academic achievements, Vernon returned to Louisiana, where he worked as an architect and served as a mathematics instructor at Southern University in Baton Rouge. His career path later led him to   Wilberforce University in Ohio, where he taught architecture until his untimely death. This structure serves as a lasting tribute to a talented and dedicated individual. He was also the great-grandson of Robert "Free Bob" Vernon, a historical figure.
